Up for reluctant sale is my lovely 19 foot caprice 'Little Madam'. Everything you need to get out on the water! She's small so not too heavy on the pockets but great fun to sail. The same yacht, but an earlier mark, was famously sailed around the world in the book "Shrimpy".
She comes with 2 sails + bags, 1 jib and 1 main, both in fair condition. A new Tohatsu 6hp SailPro outboard, including new fuel tank/hose is included in the sale. (cost £1300 6 months ago) and has only been used for approx 5 hours.
I have owned her for 18 months or so and in that time I have spent many hours getting her to her current condition. I have carried out the following work:
- Hull sanded, primed and painted (using International Toplac and Pre-Kote)
- All deck fittings removed, re-bedded using Sikaflex 291i and new stainless fixings.
- All spider cracks in the gel coat repaired
- Deck sanded, primed and painted (using International Interdeck and Pre-Kote)
- Woodwork all re-finished
-New Iroko/Sapele Hatches made
-Windows removed, frames polished and lacquered and new perspex installed. Fastened with stainless rivets
New running rigging (main/jib halyards with stainless eyes spliced, kicking strap, mainsheet, furling line)
- New grabrails made and installed
-Antifouled using International Micron 350 (still has 1 year remaining)
Standing rigging in good condition, all shackles wirelocked. Comes with CQR anchor, chain and warp.
As you can see much of her exterior is brand new. The interior is in okay condition, no problems at all with sleeping aboard, but could do with a bit of TLC! She comes with 6 fenders, first aid kit, toolkit, flare kit (out of date), harness, mooring lines and several spare ropes in the cockpit locker, 2 burner stove, frying pan + pots and probably many other items that I'm forgetting.
There is a VHF Radio aboard but not connected - I'm not sure if this works or not as I haven't tried! I have been using a handheld VHF radio (not included in sale). the cabin lights are both functional, however the port and stbd nav lights are inoperable (I haven't investigated) as is the masthead. The lights themselves are in good condition, as are the lamps inside so possibly a fuse? There is a small solar panel connected to the battery via a solar controller to keep the charge topped up.
All in all, she is not a perfectly immaculate yacht, but is certainly ready to sail away. She only draws approx 2.5 feet and being bilge keeled, is perfect for shallow water exploration as well as going to sea! Lying on the hard in Plymstock, Plymouth.
