I am selling my Folkboat as unfortunately I'm not sailing her that much anymore.
A beautiful 1961 classic Folkboat with the larger cabin. Appealing clinker hull that makes the most relaxing sounds when at anchor. Fully restored (2008 - 2012) with ocean passages in mind. I have done nearly all the work myself and the list of jobs completed is huge (I am a shipwright). A very substantial section of this boat is practically new, making her a "top rate cruising yacht" (quote from my first surveyor). I have a huge inventory of cruising equipment and charts and she has an amazing set of sails. She has a 2017 full survey which was great. She needs some cosmetic work and the odd little job here and there, but she is probably one of the best kitted out Folkboats around.

Two outboard engines with two outboard brackets attached. Seagull and Cresent. Both need service, but the Seagull hardly ever let me down.
Also, I usually row or scull with two 12' admiralty oars.
Pitchpine clinker on oak ribs. Cast iron keel. Glass sheaved (Epoxy West system) marine ply deck.
During a period from roughly 2008 to 2012 I completely restored Valmik under professional guidance from: a shipwright, marine surveyor/yacht designer, ex navy Master engineer. I am now a shipwright myself. I have over one thousand photos of the restoration.
Some of the jobs I completed in this time period include:
Beam shelves - Replaced. Both were rotten in parts.
Carlins - one replaced, the other repaired.
Beams - Fore and stern deck beams replaced with fully housed dovetail joints. Side deck beams replaced with halving joints. All coach roof beams of the lower step replaced. Some of the main coach roof beams strengthened with added beam alongside and an extra laminate underneath.
Complete new deck - 9mm marine ply glassed sheathed and re-enforced underneath on both fore and aft decks.
Cabin side - Various repairs and glass sheathed, reinforced with 9mm marine ply laminated on the inside the whole length.
Hull repairs - Planks replaced, doubled or splined as appropriate.
Rib repairs - Replaced with steamed oak or doubled up with laminated pine then tapered.
Keel - Removed and cleaned with grinder. Re-attached with new 7/8" wrought iron keelbolts bedded back down tight with sikaflex.
Floors - Removed, re-laminated and refitted.
Bulkheads - Replaced with bigger and glass sheathed.
Cockpit - Redesigned and rebuilt with self draining, glass sheathed.
Stem and stern posts - Needed small repairs.
Rudder - Rebuilt without hole for propeller. Marine ply glass sheaved with iroko upper sandwiched with stainless steel plate
Pintles and Gudgeons - Designed bigger, Galvanised mild steel.
Hatches - Repaired and strengthed, glass sheathed. Hatch garage built for main hatch.
Posts - Galvanised steel compression post added under mast, Pine compression posts added in way of companionway, Samson post replaced and quarter posts added.
Hanging Knees - Four replaced and 12 added with hand holds incorporated.
Rubbing bands and toe rail added.
Bowroller and traveller - repaired and strengthened.
Stanchions, whinches, chain plates and fore stay plate - Refitted with added chocks.
Fastenings - Everything replaced with new except for the old copper clenching which I fully inspected. Old iron spikes along garboard planks and all hood ends were removed where possible and refastened with bronze wood screws.
There are lots and lots more that I've done, new electrics and boat systems as well as accommodation.
3 berths all with new cushions. V berth up front with chain locker and 2x storage lockers underneath. Taylors paraffin two burner stove and Taylors cabin heater. Fixed navigation station. Most of cabin interior is made from marine plywood. Good storage in four lockable cockpit lockers. A lazarette with a good size hatch stows fenders, kedge, warps and such. Good size storage compartment under cockpit. Sink and pumping water tap fitted but not plumbed in.
A fully self sufficient electric system consisting of a Rutland wind generator with 3 solar panels. Also have a spare Rutland wind generator not fitted. Battery is around 10 years old but is not showing any problems. A battery monitor is fitted at the Nav station.
20kg Bruce, 12kg CQR, 5KG folding fishermans and a 5kg bruce kedge. Main anchor attaches to 30 Metres of 8mm chain and 100 Metres of 16mm 8 plait nylon warp all in chain locker under V-berth. Simpson and lawrence manual anchor windlass with winch handle. Two 12 foot admiralty oars for rowing or sculling. Two boat hooks one with an big easy mooring detachable hook on a line. One lead line and a spare bigger lead line weight. Galvanised grappling hook (for emergency mooring). Two block and tackles. Three buckets. Wooden plugs for skin fittings. Sea drogue. Flags. Fenders. Three long warps. Bombard inflatable dingy with bag, oars and two double action pumps. Small fiber glass tender with oars. Two big whale gusher titan manual bilge pumps, one in cockpit the other in cabin. Two electric bilge pumps, one on float the other is more powerful and on a manual switch. Electric spares. Wire rigging cutters. Toolbox with rigging spares. Ship axe. Twenty 10 litre water bottles which fit into the bilge snugly. Fuel cans for outboards. Four boat stands for winter ashore.
I have probably forgotten a few things I am sure.
Lots of spares and equipment I've yet to fit. Bronze sheet winches and stainless snubbing winches, bronze chain/naval pipe and more.
I have the plans and dimensions for a Quartermaster wind vane self steering system which I was going to build. Perfect for a Folkboat, I have heard.
The best cruising main sail and jib that I think you will find on any Folkboat!
Main sail - Bi radial hydranet main in great condition with three reefing points. The third reef is very deep.
Fore sail - bi radial hydranet genoa which reefs to a jib.
Spare lightweight racing main also (needs slides)
Spare, lighter weight, racing jib.
Storm sails - Storm trisail, storm jib, spitfire jib.
I think I may have a spinnaker too.
New BC pine mast with an in-groove, made in 2005 by North Quay marine. I have made a few repairs to it over the years and added a separate in groove for storm trysail to be independent of main groove. Painted pine boom with slab reefing and lazy jacks. Main sheet traveler is heavily re-enforced (storm try-sail's attachment point) and aft of cockpit which frees up the space.
Standing rigging newly made in 2010
Deck stepped mast in a strong galvanized mild steel tabernackle.
Standing rigging is 7x7 galvanized wire traditionally wormed parcelled and served splices. Main shrouds and forestay are an oversized 8mm and back stays, jumper stays lower shrouds and life lines are 5mm. All bronze rigging screws bought new in 2010. Galvanised spliced rigging is stronger and more durable than stainless steel rigging as well as having no fatigue points. Properly maintained galvanized rigging can last a life time. I have been coating it all with a Stockholm tar, oil and varnish mixture called slush twice a year.
All halyards new as of 2015. Main sheet needs replacing. Jib sheets are fine. New topping lift. Jack stays and lots of strong points to clip onto
A fixed navigation table with a huge selection of Imray chart packs for the UK and Ireland, bought new in 2015 (worth over £400 new), all stows under hinging nav table top. Navigation equipment including water proof floating binoculars with compass, Hand held compass, cockpit mounted compass and a fitted interior compass. Cockpit mounted chart plotter. Weather max mounted at chart table. Speed and depth transducer. Hand held GPS.
4 man life raft (due a service now), Dan buoy, life buoy, light buoy, Throw bag, Grab bag, Cabin mounted Epirb, Hand held search light (Plugs into 12 volt system), Waterproof torch, A big selection of 2015 flares (out of date now) and older ones. Cabin mounted DSC VHF. Floating handheld VHF. Grab bag. A couple of waterproof bags.
